Thoughts And Notions Updated Band Bio

I think I have to update our band bio. Here it goes...

Thoughts And Notions Band Bio

Thoughts And Notions is an Inspirational Power-Pop band that aims to uplift wounded souls with their brand of music. The band was founded by Jasper Lloyd Tan (Chief Lyricist), Wilbert Tan (composer/arranger), and Thrina Dimaano (Vocalist). They had their humble beginnings back in 2004 playing for their church's music ministry. One day, they decided to come up with a 10 track all original album and have this album as a fund-raising project for their church's youth group. They were able to independently release this album to their church mates and got good reviews. Because of this, they were encouraged to send a demo copy to Praise Music, the country's largest Christian recording company. Not long after, Praise picked up the album for Nationwide release. The album was entitled "In Awe of His Amazing Love" and was released nationwide on March 2006. Because of these developments, Praise encouraged the three of them to set up a band so that they could bring their music to the live audience in support of their debut album. Unfortunately, Wilbert had to leave for Manila to join his main band Drizzle. It was then left for Jasper and Thrina to audition for band members. The first ever line up of Thoughts And Notions as a live gigging band featured John Fernandez on guitars, Tim Marquez on lead guitars, Alvin Carreon on Bass, and Nelson Dychauco Jr. on drums. This lineup was able to successfully launch their debut album at SM Cagayan de Oro and went on a series of Mall tours in the city. Unfortunately, this line up would not last due to geographical reasons as these band members came from different cities. Founding Thoughts And Notions members, Jasper and Thrina, decided to hire session players for a short period of time to explore this kind of set up. And when the proper time came, they were able to find Doris Bangot on bass, Erickson Gloria on guitars, and Adonis Berongoy on drums. This lineup would serve as the longest staying Thoughts And Notions line up and is still currently existing. This line up achieved permanent status and has been responsible in making sure that Thoughts And Notions' music would be able to move forward.

Honors and Achievements

Thoughts And Notions is honored as among the most active Cagayan de Oro based bands in the local music scene. They have been playing in both Independent Productions and Big Production groups and has remained active in the pursuit of raising Cagayan de Oro's Original Music scene in the consciousness of their fellow Kagayanons. They belong to an exclusive number of Kagayanon artists who were able to successfully release an album nationwide (joining them in this exclusive group are other CDO artists like Mark Bautista, Drizzle, Nuncyspungen, Tabularaza, Fayeed Tan, Ram Chavez, Switch, to name a few). In 2006, Thoughts And Notions was featured in various local newspaper articles as well as in an Inquirer Newspaper article courtesy of a Rockstar Supernova contest. They were also featured in an October issue of Fish Magazine. This year would also see the band being honored as among the top 4 Independent Christian band through Numberonemusic.com, an international based Independent music site. With their songs from their debut album Earthbound Angel, Savior, and My Love Song occupying the third, fourth, and sixth spots respectively. In 2007, the band was featured in ABS-CBN Cagayan de Oro's local lifestyle show called Chuy. The band also did the honors of guesting in a Hillsong Music Workshop in Cagayan de Oro. Candy Magazine also featured the band in a June 2007 issue just a few weeks after the band was named by Fliptunes (the country's local version to i-tunes) as Fliptunes Manager's Choice of the week. Rexona would also honor them as among the Top 5 CDO bands through an online polling. Spirit Radio (an online Christian music radio) would also interview them and featured them in their website. In 2008, Pinoy Magazine, one of the leading Songhits Magazine in our country also featured the band as their Indie Artist of the month as well as printing the lyrics and chords of their songs Earthbound Angel and My Love Song. The band is also a two time regional finalist for the Nescafe Soundskool 2007 and 2008 editions. Thoughts And Notions also was able to do the honors to share the stage with popular bands and artists such as Bamboo, Rico Blanco, Budoy and Jr. Kilat, Sheila and the Insects, Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Bo Sanchez, and Hillsong.

Albums

Thoughts And Notions' first ever album release was it's independent album called "In Awe of His Amazing Love." It was of limited release and was picked up not soon after by House of Praise for nationwide distribution. The album's strength rested heavily on the freshness of the band's music as no Cagayan de Oro band has ever ventured into their type of genre. Released nationwide on 2006, the album is bannered by the singles My Love Song (the song that got Praise Music's attention), Savior (an alt-rock sounding worship song), Earthbound Angel (the song that got them mainstream radio's attention), and Brand New Day (a top rater when 89.3 Killerbee launched their indie top 20 countdown). This album is fast becoming a rare collectible item since only a few copies are now left in the market.

The self-titled second album is Thoughts And Notions' latest release just this year. This album is considered a debut of some sort because it is also the entire band's effort as opposed to the debut album's production which was wholly a Jasper-Wilbert-Thrina affair. The carrier single for this album is the Power-Pop influenced Runaway Angel which sets the tone for the rest of the album's song themes. As always, the music is a mix of brilliant tunes that covers a variety of genres that highlights the band's strengths. Early reviews of the album puts Beloved Savior, Like A Child, Safer in My Heart, A Promise as the most promising tracks. With the other songs getting significant mention also. As of now, this album is independently released. But the band is open for interested offers to distribute this album nationwide.
